Master Raiga Kross Empty
PostSubject: Master Raiga Kross   Master Raiga Kross I_icon_minitimeThu Oct 31 2013, 19:35

Name:
Raiga Kross

Age:
28

Gender:
Male

Race:
Human

Faction:
The Sith Empire

Rank:
Sith Master

Appearance:
Standing six feet, four inches tall and weighing 210 pounds, Raiga casts an imposing figure of well-toned muscle.  Possessing a true dedication to physical strength and exertion, Kross has gradually built up substantial muscle mass evenly across his figure to appear quite solid without any particular muscle group becoming disproportional.  His facial features are rather smooth, tapering down a relatively flat nose to a strong chin.  His hairline is a bit high up on his forehead, potentially indicating male pattern baldness later in life.  As of now though, he retains a full head of light blond hair cut short and haphazardly brushed back out of his face with an accompanying set of sideburns.  His eyes are a deep hazel, further accentuated by the large, jagged scar that extends from above his right eyebrow to midway down his cheek.

Like many Sith, Raiga prefers darker, more intimidating colors.  His most commonly seen form of dress included a dark grey under robe with ¾ length sleeves accompanied by a sleeveless black tunic over it and black trousers complete with light boots reaching midway up his calves.  Accompanying these more mundane pieces of clothing, Kross makes limited use of armor plating.  Specifically, he wears lightly armored vambraces with subtly looping knot work engravings.  Each of them is colored a simple matte black and forged using cortosis weave plates.  Finally, adding a bit of his own personal flair, Raiga drapes a long, black cloak with a white fur lining over his shoulders.

Weaponry:
Raiga’s lightsaber is a testament to conservative thinking.  Using a standard hilt as well as a standard artificial red crystal, there is very little ornamentation present on the weapon save for the ribbed black grip with stainless accents.  It is a weapon which thrives on simplicity, favoring raw power over anything else.

Skills:
Due to early experiences during his training, Raiga quickly developed a fascination with the art of summoning lightning through the power of the Force.  In light of this, Raiga made mastering the technique his greatest priority throughout his years as a Sith, quickly rising to become the premier specialist in its application at the cost of partially neglecting other skills available through the Force.  While he has received criticism from several of his peers for choosing such a narrow focus, Raiga remains confident in his abilities due to the sheer power and versatility of his lightning.  Not only do his bursts possess massive lethality and the potential to melt reinforced armor, he can channel it from almost any portion of his body and take advantage of unusual angles to take opponents off guard such as summoning a bolt of lightning directly above his prey.

Having neglected meditation on the deeper nature of the Force, Raiga shows a noticeable preference to physical combat, having put his focus into mastering Juyo as well as Form I which all lightsaber combatants are introduced to.  While his skill with a saber is honed to a high degree befitting a Force-user of his station, Raiga’s preferred means of physical combat is the unarmed combat style of Teras Kasi.  Relying upon his already impressive physique augmented by the Force, Raiga is more than capable of quickly dispatching other armed force-sensitive combatants with efficient, brutal blows to vital areas.

Using his narrowed combat focus allowed Raiga the additional time needed to fully perfect his abilities with Force generated lightning and gave him the additional advantage of full mastery at a young age.  Combining these three central aspects of his fighting style together, Raiga uses a formidable, aggressive style based around rushing down his opponent with overwhelming power and a fierce combination of unarmed attacks augmented by lighting to take advantage of openings created by his saber.  Because many users of Force Lightning techniques gravitate towards more stagnated movement during their use, Raiga’s fast-paced, up close and personal preferences can take many opponents off guard.

In addition to his more combat oriented abilities, Raiga has a decent grasp on the art of piloting smaller scale ships from point A to point B but lacks the refined skill to be called any kind of ace pilot.  Along with this, he is relatively skilled at reading social situations, especially in regards to the more subtle hints towards intent.  For a Sith, especially one with aspirations like Raiga, this is a particularly useful skill for manipulating those around him in order to ensure his own desires are protected even if that means knowing when to pull out of a discussion before everyone decides to start playing "hide the lightsaber."

Force Powers:
Precognition: (*) found in nearly all Force Sensitives it allowed the user to seemingly sense changes in the environment around them. For many this power was subconscious and always active.

Telekinesis: (*) A power that was natural for most Force sensitives. It allowed the user to pick up an item through the Force and move it as they saw fit. Stronger users could pick up larger objects from longer distances and hold them suspended for longer durations.

Battle Precognition: (*) A more advanced form of Precognition. It allowed the user to essentially sense their opponent’s next movement during battle.
Prerequisite: Precognition

Force Push: (*) This power allowed the user to push objects away from themselves. More advanced users can push larger objects to a greater distance.
Prerequisite: Telekinesis

Force Pull: (*) Allows the user to pull objects from a distance towards themselves. More advanced users can pull larger objects from greater distance.
Prerequisite: Telekinesis

Force Wound: (*) Allowed the user to telekinetically attack the organs of an enemies. It could squeeze the organs causing extreme pain, effectively stunning the target, if the user did not defend against the attack.
Prerequisite: Telekinesis

Force Speed: (**) Allows the user to push their body’s dexterity to its limits moving faster than would ordinarily be possible. With more training stronger users can enhance their speed to the point that their movements are mere blurs.
Prerequisite: Precognition

Force Shock: (**) Allowed a user to create a small ball or spark of electrical energy that could be thrown or guided through the Force towards an enemy. Though easy to create they were difficult to sustain for long periods of time. Thus they were often used to attack only over short distances.

Force Jump: (**) Allows the user to use the Force to propel themselves in the desired direction, thus greatly extending the usual distance of a jump or leap.
Prerequisite: Precognition

Force Lightning: (***) This, ordinarily dark side, power allowed the user to focus the Force into an attack of pure energy and shoot bolts of lightning from the users fingertips and palms. This could often leave burns on less experienced users. The user could define the amount of energy pulsed through the lighting, it could be enough to disable a datapad or enough to kill a full grown human with a single bolt.
Prerequisite: Force Shock

Saber Throw: (***) Allows the user to throw a Lightsaber and physically guide it through the Force. Often the user would through it at an enemy and then guide it back to their hand/s.
Prerequisite: Telekinesis

Chain Lightning: (****) A more advanced form of Force Lightning, this power allowed the user to use the first person the lightning strikes as a conduit to channel the lighting into several other individuals as well. Stronger users could send energy through more people, possibly even creating multiple arches by using both hands. It was difficult to master due to the amount of concentration needed to sustain the energy. (Note: Chain Lightning can affect allies as well as enemies. Be aware of your comrades positioning before use of this power.)
Prerequisite: Force Lightning, Force Shock

Force Deflection: (****) Allowed the user to ward off blaster fire by forming a wall of Force to push the blaster bolt off in a new direction. Due to its nature it was extremely hard to aim the redirected bolt.

Force Storm (*****) The ultimate form of Force Lightning, sending lighting in not just one, but all directions. The user typically stretches his hand upwards to minimalize the chances of being struck by his own power. Then he or she unleashes lighting in all directions striking everyone within the reach of the lightning. The user, being the energy source, is typically immune, though not always. (Note: Force Storm affects everything in the immediate area of the user.)
Prerequisite: Force Lightning, Force Spark, Chain Lightning

(I received permission from The Force to have this ability in exchange for cutting down on my number of available powers)

Personality:
Raiga is a man possessed by a great hunger and an even greater frustration.  As far back as he can remember, Kross has felt a deep emptiness within himself, a yearning for some unknown object or achievement.  Through his studies with the Sith, he has reached the conclusion that the source of his hunger is a need for power, the ambition to become the greatest Master in the entire empire.  However, even as Raiga has gradually accumulated more power and strengthened his understanding of the Force, his hunger has not been sated in the slightest.  Growing strong simply for the sake of growing strong was not enough, and yet it is all he has ever really known.

To this day Raiga does not know what he is searching for and it is a mystery that frustrates him to no end.  He exists in a seemingly permanent incomplete state, unable to become whole without a clear goal.  Stubbornly refusing to acknowledge potential flaws in his own logic, Raiga continues to pursue his blind need for self-improvement to try and find some sort of satisfaction within himself.  That being said, unlike many Sith, Raiga has gradually abandoned his earlier notions of becoming great in relation to others within the empire.  Master Kross’ drive has shifted to constantly compare his progress to earlier versions of himself.  So long as he can be just a bit stronger than he was before, he can withstand his own emptiness…for a time.

Factoring in Kross’ inner conflict, he is not much of a social butterfly.  Normally found in a state of mild annoyance, he is quick to lose his temper with those around him but slow to resort to open violence or petty verbal exchanges.  More often than not, Kross’ go-to tactic is to simply remove himself from the situation in an attempt to rise above it.  To those who know him well (the far and few between), this serves as an interesting look at the evolution of Raiga’s ego compared to his earlier days as a student.  In the past, Raiga’s substantial ego was always bubbling to the surface, striving to prove to others just how powerful he was in an attempt to perhaps convince himself that his void was being filled.  After pushing his luck a bit too far with his late master, Raiga received a brutal reality check and adopted the quiet confidence he is characterized by today, radiating an unspoken understanding that while he may be able to reduce an upstart to ash, there’s rarely any need to go that far.

History:
Born into a middle class family on the planet Ziost, at first it seemed as if Raiga was destined for an unassuming life as a lowly underling in the massive Sith Empire.  Free from parental abuse or other dramatic story-telling tools, the only child of the Kross family saw very little in the way of excitement throughout his early childhood.  However, as he continued to grow, certain “accidents” began to occur.  Without prior knowledge, the young boy would simply know where to find misplaced items around the house.  Random objects would move on their own coinciding with young Raiga’s mood.  Living in the heart of the Sith Empire, it was not long before people arrived on the Kross’ doorstep with questions.  Meeting the child face to face, it quickly became clear that the boy was in tune with the power of the Force.  Without much ado Raiga was pulled from his home and entered into the harsh world of the Sith training academy.

Cut off from friends and family, Raiga’s early developmental years took place within the grim walls of the Sith academy.  Harsh training routines were his playtime and bitter childhood rivalries to garner praise from the instructors took the place of friendships.  Even for the ten year old Raiga, the message was clear; every man for himself.  Despite his best efforts though, Raiga was unable to ever truly distinguish himself in the academy.  Average in most respects, the only area where he managed to shine was physical training, taking an immediate liking to the rudimentary unarmed combat that the students received.  Few realized just how strong his feelings were until he employed them as his mainstay during his final training duel prior to graduation.  Hurling his saber hilt at his confused opponent, Raiga beat the other boy down with his bare hands, silently enjoying the few murmurs that he was able to generate among the audience.

Within that audience was the man that would soon become the most influential figure in Kross’ life, a visiting Sith Master by the name of Argus Keyes.  Having stopped by the academy to meet with one of the trainers, it was on a lark that Master Keyes caught Raiga’s training duel.  The sight of a trainee abandoning his weapon was odd enough, but for that trainee to grab hold of victory with the kind of brutal efficiency that Kross had exhibited was definitely promising.  When the time came for the trainees to leave the academy that had been their home for so long, Master Keyes was there awaiting Raiga as his new apprentice.

A harsh but fair man, Argus took Raiga under his wing and strove to encourage as much diversity as possible in the young man.  Imitation was the most basic form of learning but no one ever achieved greatness through imitation alone.  Right from the beginning, Keyes made that lesson clear to his student and wholeheartedly supported Raiga’s interest to deepen his education in unarmed combat once he had completed the proper basics of lightsaber combat.  As the years went on, Raiga slowly started to form into a worthwhile apprentice.  Though he had little interest in many applications of the Force, his utter devotion to mastering the few he did like was enough to impress his Master, especially Raiga’s devotion to the manipulation of lightning.

While they were able to function together in a relatively healthy manner, Kross and Keyes never truly bonded on an emotional level.  To Raiga, Keyes was not some great figure to be idolized nor a demon to be despised.  He was simply a means to an end and when the time came he would need to step aside and allow his apprentice to claim his own time in the sun.  If that meant a bit of treachery, so be it.  At least that was Raiga’s rationale when he attacked his master from behind after sharing a meal together, unleashing the full fruits of his training in Force lightning to slaughter his unawares teacher.

Congratulated for successfully fulfilling the intrinsic duty of a Sith apprentice, Raiga was soon presented with the chance to take on a disciple of his own.  Having little interest in educating others, Kross accepted a student merely as an experiment for increasing his own power and authority within the Empire as a Sith Master.  The name of his first, and thus far only, student was Kitala Shapro.  Having received a bit of fame within the Sith academy as a gifted wielder of the Force, Shapro entered into her apprenticeship expecting to be placed in the care of a veteran master who could mold her toward the greatness she felt destined for.  Instead, she found Raiga to be a disinterested, unmotivated brute with little time for training her.  Despite his own reputation as a master of Sith lightning, not once did Raiga ever demonstrate the technique to Kitala.  His prized abilities, the skills which made him an acceptable master were hidden away from the female Zabrak who only ever received basic instruction comparable to the classes taught at the academy.  It was only a matter of months before Kitala’s temper gave out and she began to angrily demand deeper lessons in the Force.  Each and every time, Raiga denied her, viewing her ambitions as nothing more than an incessant headache.

Finally, Shapro took it upon herself to forcefully draw out the true power her master was hiding from her.  She would prove herself worthy of learning his learn abilities one way or another.  Meeting Kross head on, Shapro moved to engage her teacher in lightsaber combat.  With a wave of his hand, Raiga haphazardly fried her to a crisp with a burst of Force lightning, making the technique she had wanted so badly her final sight.  Understandably, Master Kross has put no effort into finding another apprentice since the untimely death of Shapro.

I son't know how I feel about those weaves. Pretty much makes you immune to attacks on the arms and legs. ¾ goes a ways to counteract that, but I need someone higher up to approve that before I do. Also, dafuk are Celtic? This is Star Wars, son; we don't know who those are.

Pfft, weak. Where's the huge pipes that pump Force energy into the blade as it's turned on, and the shoto-style blade coming out of the end so you can use it both ways, and the hot rod flames on the sides?

I've made some edits to help deal with the cortosis situation. The boots no longer have any sort of armor plating and the gauntlets only protect his forearms. In addition to that I ditched the Celtic description. If you'd like me to edit it further I'd be happy to do so.
